NOTES:- This sheet ‘BOD -4/02A’ is assembled as an alternative to ‘BOD -4/2’ and ‘BOD -3/10’ by combining both families therein, and is probably preferable.

***The implications of this family situation are significant. It would appear that because of the marriage allegation behind BOD -4/2 wherein John Bodnam is in fact a WIDOWER, and ‘intends to marry Mary Jones the next day’, but does so at ‘Huntley’ rather than ‘Minsterworth’ have importance….. To start with, son John born 1742 is arriving AFTER the death of first wife Alice in 1741, but before marriage to Mary, so monkey business seems indicated. It is presumed that Mary Jones is the mother, John having been born immediately prior to that marriage to Mary. John Bodnam is a Church Warden, and has some standing within the community at Minsterworth, indicating a good reason why he might have relocated to Huntley, and why his sons William, James and Samuel relocated to Arlingham, in an attempt to escape criticism. Quite possibly there could have been animosity between the earlier family and the second family with the new young wife very little older than the earlier children. Although as many as fifteen children seem to have arrived, both John (died 1768) and Mary (a Minsterworth girl, died 1767) seem to have been buried at Minsterworth, as did son James too when he died.If this is all true, then Robert born 1757, is even closer to being of Minsterworth origin than heretofore thought.

(To simplify matters, ongoing page reference numbers have not been changed. Assume that this forms a viable alternative to pages -4/2 and -3/10, but seems ever more logical. The Route Map in an earlier section has not been changed because it would require a complete revamp between sheets 1 and 2).
