NOTES:-

James senior has been difficult to track down. Only when I examined the original record for the 1881 census was the situation clarified. When the enumerator called and asked where James was born, he must have said ‘Newent, Glos.’ The original writing has been changed to ‘Surrey, Lambeth’ in a totally different hand, and I don’t know why, but the birth registration did take place at Newent, and there is no alternative elsewhere for any ‘James’ at that time. Also, when giving information in London, the informant must have known of Newent to be able to say the words, so I think it was subsequently changed in error.

It is known that the family from Newent did relocate to South Wales via Hereford, so there is no conflict of information at all.

* The name of Albert George’s wife is unknown, and any family born before 1912 should be discovered when the 1911 census is released in 2011, at which time any resulting sheet will be produced.
