NOTES

The surname spelling used by this family up to at least 1900 is BODNAM

The only concrete records I have for this family so far are the 1901 census (which hints that Margaret’s maiden surname might be ‘Morgan,’ which turns out to be correct by matching marriage certificate numbers back in 1887. The question is, where is husband William in 1901? Margaret is described as ‘Married’ not a ‘Widow’, so he should still be alive somewhere. I have since discovered that Margaret, Myra, Brinley, Alwyn, and William junior emigrated from Liverpool to New York in 1903. It is possible that William senior was already over there from 1897. The surname listed on the passenger list is BODMAN.

As of April 2008 I have now made contact with the family of Brinley Oscar, and can introduce an ongoing set of sheet(s) for them

The name ‘Brinley’ can also appear as ‘Brynley’.

Brinley Oscar was the only child known to be having further progeny.

From the 1881 census, William Henry was originally a ‘Millman’ working in the local iron industry. He was probably similarly employed in the USA after emigration.
