NOTES

Enoch BODENHAM was at various times coal miner, railway worker, travelling salesman selling SPCK Bibles, literature, and finally, for most of his life, (self-appointed??) Baptist or Nonconformist Preacher. He fell out with his youngest son Bertie, because Bertie smoked, visited pubs, and, probably worst of all, got Laura Lavinia Lane in the family way and had to marry her in Gloucester Registry Office! In turn, Bertie considered 5 times married Enoch the biggest hypocrite he knew! When questioned, wife No. 5 knew absolutely nothing about wives 1, 2 & 3, but only of wife 4… because she knew about the divorce., & might have been cited in it.
